The Bad Place

Tough day yesterday. I took my Dad to the VA, where it was extremely busy, but everyone was really nice and efficient. My Mom appreciated the help, but couldn’t resist mentioning that I am doomed to Hell if I don’t change my religious orientation.

I use the word ‘orientation’ advisedly. Look at all the crazy things people are willing to endure, and do, in order to be true to their religion. Sometimes your spiritual life is something you are, something you can’t change. You’re born that way.

I’m not up to martyrdom, but nagging I can withstand.

Later that day I had schedule gap, and stopped to pass the time, in a strange place where I had a frightening vision.

I was in a huge dining room, with all kinds of food to choose from, but it was lousy food. There was an enormous TV hanging from the ceiling, and it was playing Fox News. No one talked to anyone. I peered through a jungle of plastic plants. There was a sign that said, ‘No Walking or Exercising on the Food Court.

If a liberal is very bad, does she spend eternity in Warwick Mall?

  1. This is one of the funniest posts you’ve done, and on a day when you had so much to deal with…hope your Dad is okay.

  2. I appreciate you spending purgatory in a doctor’s waiting room, too bad you didn’t have the fun kind of hell to go after. Give me a call when you get a break, I’ll buy you a drink!

  3. There is a sign in the Head and Neck Tumor Clinic at the VA.”Please be patient-good care takes time”.
I am a patient in that clinic and the last time I was there they took me 2 hours and 10 minutes after my appointment time.I just brought a good book and a large cup of coffee. They give great care in that clinic. No one gets shined on.
I don’t think I’ve met much better providers anywhere than at this VA facility.Well,West Roxbury ain’t too shabby either.

  4. Oh,and Nancy-give Shepard Smith on Fox News a look-he’s a pretty fair minded reporter.
I’ve even heard leftists say that.
