Dear Sir or Madam Governor

Salon’s War Room has a post about the Guardians of the Free Republics, a group that sent a letter to Governor Carcieri, demanding he leave office or be removed. The Guardians are sorry if anyone takes that as a threat, especially the FBI, which is investigating.

My first reaction was anger. I didn’t vote for most of these politicians, but when you mess with them you are messing with my country. I saw enough political violence in the 1960’s and ’70’s to last a lifetime.

My second reaction was to wonder–why Donald Carcieri? He’s as anti-government as a governor can be. If you want proof, follow this link to a 2009 picture in the ProJo of our governor giving Richard Nixon double victory signs to the first Gaspee Tea Party rally on the State House lawn.

Apparently the Guardians sent form letters to all the governors they had addresses for. They didn’t even do their homework. They don’t know anything about Governor Carcieri, they just don’t like governors.

I hope the Guardians and their supporters avoid the US Census, and this November, for gosh sakes, just stay home.

UPDATE: More from CBS News. They’re saying the Guardians aren’t violent, but they did set a three day deadline for governors to leave office or be removed. Who was going to do the removing, and how?

IT GETS STRANGER: protect_democracy, via Buzzflash comments sent this link from the Guardians website. They’re religious. So’s our governor. Maybe they should have asked to schedule a debate instead of the sinister letter thing.
